THE search is on to find local people to perform as extras as part of the celebrations to mark the centenary of one of the country’s finest composers.

Aldeburgh Music has launched a recruitment drive ahead of Benjamin Britten’s 100th birthday.

Adults and children are invited to volunteer as extras for events at the 2013 Aldeburgh Festival, including a production by Punchdrunk theatre.

Tracy Virr of Aldeburgh Music said: “We need a large number of adults and young people who can be available on one or more days between June 7 and June 23. Our founder Benjamin Britten was a rare example of a world-renowned composer who was absolutely committed to being active in the life of his community, and so it’s important to us local people are involved.”
