This was the scene over Aldeburgh last night but we may see a very different picture in days to come as the threat of thunderstorms increases.
This shot was taken by James Cable as he made his way back into the town last night on the lifeboat.
Posting the photo on Facebook, he said: “A slightly different view of Aldeburgh. Heading home on the lifeboat last night.”
His post has attracted much attention with fellow photography enthusiasts on the Aldeburgh and Surrounding Area Images Facebook group describing it as stunning, beautiful and amazing - and we agree!
The red sky suggested it would be another warm day today, and it lived up to expectations with temperatures soaring to 33C around the county.
However, we are expecting thunderstorms over the next two days, bringing much needed rain and a break in the heatwave. The west of the county is likely to see storms later today and already there have been reports of thunder over Saffron Walden.
