Former Ipswich Town player Allan Hunter has described Kevin Beattie as an unbelievable player.
The former Northern Ireland international formed a formidable defensive duo with Beattie during his time at Ipswich Town.
The pair’s partnership became so well known that it earned a well-known nickname from the then Ipswich Town manager Sir Bobby Robson.
“He and I played together for 10 years. Mr Robson called us bacon and eggs.”
Hunter said that Beattie was “in the same class as George Best” who he had also played with during his career.
“I could not wish for anything better,” said Hunter, “He was unbelievable on the ground and in the air.”
“He was some footballer. He was magnificent.”
