The showcase entitle The Alphabet Museum will look over the 5000 year history of the letters that we use everyday.

The work on show tells the story of the medium back to ancient times and demonstrates how we moved from hieroglyphs to letters.

The exhibition features carvings, drawings, glass and wood work pieces many of which have been newly commissioned.

Curator Eric Marland said: “Eric Marland said, “The lines and shapes of the alphabet have the power of containing and sharing the sounds of speech.

“The exhibition is a powerful illustration of how the letters of the alphabet are affected and rendered when put in the hands of all sorts of lettering artists.”

The exhibition takes place from June 29 - September 9.
