AN ambulance was involved in a crash with a car as it went to answer an emergency call in Essex today.

The accident happened in Marine Parade East, Clacton, at 12.05pm as the crew travelled to assist colleagues at the scene of another crash in the town's Old Road.

No-one in the ambulance or the car were injured in the incident which will now be investigated.

There were no serious injuries in the earlier accident although one person was taken to hospital.

Local operations manager Trevor Redburn said: “I'm very pleased to say that none of the parties involved were injured. The reason for this accident will be investigated thoroughly and any remedial action will be taken as appropriate.”
