Three “county line” drug dealers who were part of a supply ring which sold large quantities of heroin and cocaine in the Ipswich and Felixstowe areas have been given jail sentences totalling 30 years.

Jailing Amiadul Islam, 25, of east London, Yusuf Ahmed, 26, of Tollgate Road, London and Aidid Mohamed, 28, of Ranelagh Road, London, Judge Martyn Levett described the “AJ and Sky” drug dealing operation, which was behind the murder of Trimley father of five Dean Stansby last year, as a “well oiled machine”.

“I am satisfied that this sophisticated organisation had all the hallmarks of a professional crime above and beyond ordinary street dealing,” said the judge.

He said that during the drug dealing conspiracy admitted by the men there had been nine successful police raids on properties in the Ipswich area during which significant quantities of drugs had been seized.

“It wasn’t unusual for between 200 and 400 wraps of class A drugs to be seized during these raids,” said the judge.

He said over a period of six to seven months members of the syndicate had made 35 and 40 trips to Suffolk to restock “trap houses” with supplies.

He estimated the total amount of drugs involved as being in the region of five kilograms with a revenue of between £250,000 and £500,000.

“AJ and Sky was one of many organised county line groups which brought drugs into Suffolk and sold locally,” said the judge.

He said the syndicate, which was known for its reliability and speedy delivery, would send out text messages to customers advertising the drugs it was selling as “The Best”.

All three defendants admitted conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine between November 2016 and July 2017.

Ahmed also admitted possessing cocaine and crack cocaine with intent to supply.

Islam, who is currently serving a minimum of 18 years of a life sentence after being convicted earlier this year of murdering Mr Stansby in February last year, was jailed for ten years and two months, which will run concurrently with his current sentence.

Ahmed was jailed for 11 years and Mohamud was locked up for nine years.

Islam was one of four drug dealers who were convicted at Ipswich Crown Court in July of murdering Mr Stansby to teach him a lesson for previously stealing drugs from the AJ and Sky ring.
