TWO men were arrested after a toxic substance was sprayed in the air during a fight outside a party in Clacton last night.

TWO men were arrested after a toxic substance was sprayed in the air during a fight outside a party in Clacton last night.

Police were called to a report of a disturbance at a private function at Charnallies Restaurant and Bar in Pier Avenue at about 11pm.

The ambulance service were called to treat a number of people affected by the spray.

Police have since recovered a bottle of liquid, thought to be ammonia.

A 33-year-old man from Clacton has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident and another man, who is 35 and also from Clacton, has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

Both are currently in police custody.
