Conservatives have held a seat in a Colchester Borough Council by-election.
Anne Brown has been elected to represent the Dedham & Langham ward at the authority.
Mrs Brown, Conservative county councillor for the area, polled 545 votes in yesterday’s by-election, called after previous councillor Mark Cable (Con) did not attend a meeting for six months.
William Faram (UKIP) polled 60 votes, George Penny (LD) 57 and John Spademan (Lab) 38.
Mrs Brown will hold the seat until May’s all-out borough elections.
