A rallying call to the team from Team Manager and Co Chairman John Adams to win it for Jean Mascall the wife of owner Ray who passed away sadly during the week certainly in inspired the team in an emotional day at West Row.

Before the meeting there was a minutes silence impeccably observed by all those in attendance and a bunch of flowers were positioned in the place where Jean used to watch her beloved Fen Tigers by team Captain Barrie Evans.

When the meeting started however it was the Cobra’s who bit first with an unexpected 1- 5 in heat one with their in form guest Lee Smart deputising for the ill Jamie Smith and Ben Morley showing a clean set of heels to the home No.1 Jerran Hart and Ollie Rayson.

Fen Tigers fans fears were quickly quashed though by fast emerging youngster Joe Jacobs who registered a magnificent paid 17 points and with Evans dropping only one point from his 5 rides the home side ran out 48 – 42 winners and climb to third place in the National League table.

Adams said” This was an emotional day for everyone at the club and I would just like to thanks all who helped to get the meeting on and our team for putting getting a tremendous victory against the old enemy.”

Mildenhall certainly seem to have blown the cobwebs off now after a shaky start to the season and with Matt Wright due to come in to the team this Sunday when the Fenmen face Plymouth(5pm start) the omens are looking good for the Fen Tigers.
