Police want to trace the owner of a baby’s car seat that was likely stolen from a car in Clacton last month.

The car seat was recovered in Old Road in the early hours of Saturday, December 13.

Police had been called just before 12.30am to reports of several men arguing by the Shell Garage. When officers arrived they found the car seat left at the location.

Further enquiries led to police uncovering damage to the wing mirrors of a number of cars in Crossfield Road and a 24-year-old man from Colchester was arrested nearby on suspicion of theft and criminal damage.

He was taken to Clacton Police Station for interview and has been bailed pending further enquiries to report back on January 30.

Investigating officer, Pc Adam Westall, said: “We believe this car seat, which is a Mothercare own brand, was most likely stolen from a car in the Clacton area on the evening of Friday, December 12.

“If anyone recognises the picture and believes this is their seat I would ask them to call me at Clacton Police Station on 101.”
