Woman arrested in connection with fatal crash in Newmarket

Police investigating a crash that killed two men and left two young women with serious injuries in Suffolk have made an arrest in connection with the incident.

Officers were called at around 11.50pm on Sunday to reports of a two vehicle crash in Exning Road, Newmarket.

Two men – a 43-year-old passenger of one of the cars and a 20-year-old male driver of the other vehicle – died at the scene.

Two women rushed to hospital after the collision remain at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, one of whom has suffered serious injuries.

Detectives investigating the fatal collision announced they had made an arrest this afternoon.

A 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, possessing a controlled drug and aggravated vehicle taking without consent in connection with the incident.

She will be interviewed by officers in due course.

Witnesses to the crash and anyone with information is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
