A JOINT police and fire investigation will be carried out after firefighters were called to tackle a mobile home blaze on a travellers' site which is thought to have been started deliberately.

A JOINT police and fire investigation will be carried out after firefighters were called to tackle a mobile home blaze on a travellers' site which is thought to have been started deliberately.

The incident, at 7.55pm on Tuesday , happened in Newbridge Road, Tiptree and saw a total of four crews called to the scene from Tiptree, Coggeshall, Tollesbury, and Witham.

The property, measuring six metres by two metres, was well alight when firefighters arrived on the scene.

Initially, two crews were sent to the incident but on arrival the officer in charge requested the attendance of an additional two as the fire also involved a storage shed which was also well alight.

By 9.05pm steady progress was being made and the incident was dealt with by 9.30pm.
