Works of art will go on show in Sudbury to help raise funds for a hospice charity.

The exhibition by Valerie Orr Jones takes place at The Secret Garden in Friars Street is now open and runs through June.

With 50% of the profits going to Bury St Edmunds-based St Nicholas Hospice Care, this will be Valerie’s third solo exhibition having had previous showings in Portsmouth and at the Quay Theatre in Sudbury.

Valerie, who didn’t start actively painting until she was in her mid-sixties, has decided to support the hospice because of the care the charity gave to a family member.

With her art focusing on animals, birds and portraits, some of which are copies of the ‘old masters’, at one stage Valerie was asked to do a copy of a Picasso painting for a pilot programme for a series to be shown on BBC2, called ‘Fakes and Forgeries in Britain’.
