A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a serious crash in Elmswell.
Officers were called at around 5.04pm yesterday, May 10 to reports that a car had crashed into a ditch in Ashfield Road.
Police say that the vehicle left the road and struck a tree, before setting alight.
One unconscious driver was found at the scene. The man was flown by air ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he has been in surgery overnight.
The road was closed for roughly five hours while an investigation took place at the scene. It was reopened at 10.34pm last night.
A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision in Elmswell, Suffolk, yesterday at 4.55pm.
“Two ambulance officers, an ambulance and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attended the scene. One patient was flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a serious condition.”
Witnesses to the crash and anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk police on 101 quoting incident reference number 271 of May 10.
