A diversion that saw drivers making a 30-mile detour around the A134 at Assington came to an end this weekend.
The road was closed from Friday evening after a water main burst in the village.
A spokeswoman from Anglian Water confirmed the burst main was fixed yesterday evening.
“One lane is open and traffic lights are place,” she said. “We are working to resurface the road and both lanes will be open by Monday evening. We are sorry for the disruption caused by this essential emergency repair work and thank residents and road users for their continued patience.”
Drivers were directed all the way to Ipswich to avoid the A134 at Assington.
