A robber wearing a black motorcycle helmet attempted to mug a man of his watch in a Walton-on-the-Naze betting shop.

The male culprit ran off empty handed after an onlooker leapt to the victim’s aid during the attack in the Old Pier Street bookies on Saturday, March 10.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “A man entered the building in Old Pier Street at around 5.55pm wearing a black motorcycle helmet and threatened a man inside.

“He then tried taking the victim’s watch off and there was a struggle before a member of public came to his aid.

“The suspect then fled the scene.”
