Ipswich Audi and Bury St Edmunds Audi joined forces to provide their customers with the chance to drive the latest sporting models at a special driving day.

The Audi Sport Showcase, based at The Bildeston Crown, featured a range of sporty S, RS and R models including the new lighter and more powerful 550PS R8 V10 plus along with RS4 Avant and RS5 Cabriolet with the 450PS 4.2-litre TFSI V8, 560PS 4.0-litre TFSI V8 RS6 Avant and 340PS 2.5-litre TFSI TT RS.

Guests were able to experience driving the cars on accompanied and unaccompanied test drives during the day and enjoy hospitality.

Doug Pearson, marketing co-ordinator of Marriott Motor Group of which the two Audi dealerships are a part, said: “It went extremely well. The idea was to give our customers something extra that is not an everyday event. For us it was an important part of our Audi marque as we aim to be the UK’s number one premium brand. There was some very positive feedback.”

With 14 cars available, together worth nearly £1.5m, 89 test drives were taken by the invited guests.

David Canham, head of business at Ipswich Audi, said: “It was a chance for customers to drive cars that dealers don’t always hold as demonstrators – our aim was to make it a VIP day for them.

“This event doesn’t happen every year and it might be some time until we have this kind of showcase again. It is about making the customers feel good and, judging by the amount of smiling we saw that day, our objective was achieved.
