FIREFIGHTERS from Ipswich rescued a woman with spinal injuries by lifting her on a stretcher though her first-floor window.

The 21-year-old, who lives in The Street, Bramfield, fell from her loft hatch just before 7pm on Saturday.

Paramedics wanted to keep her horizontal on a spinal board, so fire crews lifted her through a window rather than down the stairs.

She was placed on a hydraulic platform and lowered to the ground.

She was then taken by an ambulance crew to the James Paget Hospital in Great Yarmouth for further treatment.

The extent of her injuries are not yet known.
