Demand across the region for the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) was up when compared with the same period last year.

Between May 5 and May 7 EEAST received more than 10,000 calls across Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

In Suffolk calls went up from 1,142 in 2017 to 1,459 this weekend.

It was a similar story in Norfolk where calls jumped from 1,454 last year to 1,785 this year.

The highest number of calls for the service came from Essex where numbers also rose from 2,932 in 2017 to 3,280 this year.

Sunday proved to be the busiest day for the service with more than 3,900 calls being received across the Trust.
