A WOMAN has been taken to hospital with a suspected fractured hip after a head-on vehicle collision at Barton Mills this morning.

Police were called at 11.31am to the collision on the A1065 between a Blue Honda Jazz car and a Dodge saloon. Police say a man in his 30s was driving the Dodge while an elderly couple were in the Honda.

Two fire crews, one from Mildenhall and another from Newmarket, were called to the scene. They worked to free the man from the Dodge using hydraulic cutting equipment.

An ambulance and a first-aid response car were also in attendance. The ambulance took a woman to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with a possible fractured hip. The response car took a man with a hand injury to RAF Lakenheath.

Police say the cars required recovery vehicles to be removed from the scene.
