The Beast from the East might make a brief return to the region this weekend, according to some forecasters.
While weather conditions will certainly not come close to matching the severity seen earlier this month, a cold blast from the east may bring with it near-freezing temperatures – and perhaps even a scattering of snow.
Dan Holley, a forecaster for Weatherquest, said it will definitely get colder towards the end of the week.
He said: “There is going to be a cold spell. However there is a bit of uncertainty about how quickly that cold wind will come in from the east.
“Once the cold air is in place, we are looking at highs of two or three degrees. There will be quite a noticeable wind chill.”
Regarding the potential for more disruption from snow, Mr Holley said nothing was set in stone.
“It depends how much frost we have before then,” he added.
“We might get some snow showers – but it won’t be anything like what we had before.”
