IPSWICH Town legend Kevin Beattie is due back home today following a stay in hospital after suffering health problems.

The 54-year-old, who made more than 200 appearances for the Blues during a distinguished career, was taken to Ipswich Hospital last Wednesday.

He was suffering problems with his pancreas but his wife Maggie assured all Town fans that he was fine.

The former defender, who also won nine caps for England and has been voted Ipswich's all-time greatest player in polls, suffered from pancreatitis around 11 years ago.

His daughter Louise said her father was in good spirits and was hoping to return home today.

“I've just spoken to him and he is fine,” she said. “He is in good spirits.”
