A 14-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries last night after a road accident.
The teenager was taken to hospital after his bicycle was involved in a collision with a motor vehicle at the junction between the A145 and Sotterley Road in Willingham St Mary, near Beccles, at 5.30pm.
A paramedic response car and ambulance attended but the injuries were thought to be so serious that a helicopter was called in to airlift the cyclist to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital for treatment.
Last night, a spokesman for Suffolk police descirbed the youngster’s condition to be “critical but stable’’.
Police closed Sotterley Road and Rectory Road to investigate the scene of the crash for several hours, but reopened them shortly before 11pm.
