Beccles residents from across the generations were brought together at a special event hosted by students.

Supported by the East Suffolk Communities Team comprising officers from Suffolk Coastal and Waveney district councils and the county council, 22 older people took part in the Muncheon Mingle event at Beccles Free School where pupils, along with students from Sir John Leman High, provided activities including bingo, music and drama performances.

Mary Rudd, Waveney cabinet member for community health and safety, said: “This is the second Muncheon Mingle event held in Beccles and both have proven popular with local residents.

“Many of the older people who came to this event live alone; loneliness can have such a negative impact on people’s physical and mental wellbeing and so we hope these activities help people to feel more involved and connected.”
