The 49-year-old from Laxfield, has set herself the challenge of swimming 50 miles of Butterfly in one year to raise £500 for five charities.

Nikki said: “I remember my coach swimming 50 lengths for his 50th. I thought, instead of presents, lets use the money to help charities. The challenge makes me swim twice a week and I feel so much fitter.”

Pilates and swimming teacher, Nikki, said: “A lot of people after retirement want to learn to swim, many feel intimidated by the pool but don’t be afraid. Go to your local pool and speak to people. It’s great fun, boosts your confidence and opens up a whole new world.”

Nikki will also take part in a swimathon alongside four others at Stradbroke Swim and Fitness Centre on April 1.

The charities include, The British Heart Foundation, Marie Curie, Poppy Appeal, Tommy’s and Anthony Nolen.

Nikki has currently achieved 10 miles of her 50 mile goal.
