Bitterly cold winds and snow to return to region over the weekend

Between 1 and 5cm of snow called fall across the region this weekend as strong easterly winds take hold once again.

Weatherquest forecaster Phil Garner said that things are set to get colder on Friday night with the first flurries of snow falling on Saturday morning.

This snow is set to continue through the weekend with temperatures struggling to get above 2 or 3C.

Strong, bitterly cold winds from the east will help to produce snow drifts.
