PRAYERS were being offered up today for a man and a woman who were found dead at a house in Kesgrave after her husband reported her missing.

The bodies of the 31-year-old female, who is believed to be from the Kesgrave area, and the 43-year-old man, were discovered in Walker Chase on Grange Farm.

Suffolk Constabulary said the woman was found in a bedroom at the end-terraced property at about 9.30pm on Thursday, around 50 minutes after concerns were raised about her whereabouts.

Richard Jones, a spokesman for the force, said: “We can confirm that the husband of the missing woman was the person who called us. We attended the property in Walker Chase at around 9.30pm.”

When police went to the house after taking the missing person report they saw a light on in the detached garage.

Using a crowbar to wrench the door open, they found the body of the man.

They then forced entry to the house and discovered the woman’s body upstairs.

About seven-and-a-half hours later a VW Polo was discovered in Halls Drift, about 300metres away, which police have confirmed is connected to the inquiry, but would not confirm it was the woman’s.

Officers from the Suffolk and Norfolk major investigation team said they would not be confirming the identity of either person until formal identification had taken place.

The procedure is expected to take place at Ipswich Hospital today. A post-mortem examination by a Home Office Pathologist will also take place this weekend.

Police have said they are treating the death as unexplained. It is understood they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the tragedy at this time.

Detective Superintendent Julian Gregory, of the Suffolk and Norfolk major investigation team, said: “The investigation is still in its early stages and although we believe we know the identities of the deceased we cannot confirm this until formal identification has taken place.

“We would, however, like to reassure the community that early indications show there is not an ongoing threat to the wider public.

Det Supt Gregory also confirmed officers originally had a call from a man, who had concerns about his wife as she had not returned home.

As a consequence of identifying possible lines of enquiry after speaking to the man they went to Walker Chase.

The Reverend Robin Spittle, vicar of All Saint’s Church, Kesgrave, said the two people who died would be in his congregation’s prayers tomorrow.

Anyone with information which could help the inquiry should telephone Suffolk Police on 101.
