DETECTIVES investigating a distraction burglary have issued an e-fit of a man they would like to trace in connection with the crime.

The offence happened on Thursday, July 10 in Suffolk Road, Ipswich, between 3.10pm and 3.30pm, at the home of an 86-year-old woman.

A man claimed he needed to check the pensioner's water as there was a problem in the neighbouring block of flats.

He asked the woman to fill up saucepans in the kitchen while he checked the water in the bathroom and a short while later he left - saying he would return later.

When he had gone the woman discovered her flat had been searched and some money had been stolen.

The offender is described as white, aged between 30 and 35, about 5ft 6in tall, of medium build, with short black hair and was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and navy blue trousers.

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Hannah Martin at Ipswich CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
