TWO Bond girls are among four female celebrities who will appear at a Suffolk theatre this season, it has been announced.

Britt Ekland, Honor Blackman, Carol Thatcher and Baroness Shirley Williams will all take to the stage to give one-night-only performances at the Fisher Theatre in Bungay during the spring and summer season.

It is a real coup for the small theatre, which is the result of a huge community restoration project and the source of much pride for the volunteers who helped set it up and now run it.

Bond girls Honor Blackman and Britt Ekland are known to many for their memorable roles alongside 007, but both have enjoyed successful stage and screen careers spanning many years.

Swedish actress Britt Ekland is known to many for her high profile marriage to Peter Sellers, alongside her roles in The Wicker Man and The Man with the Golden Gun.

Honor Blackman is most famous for her role as Pussy Galore in Goldfinger and for playing Cathy Gale in The Avengers.

She has also played many famous theatre roles including Mrs Higgins in My Fair Lady, as well as television roles in The Upper Hand and Doctor Who.

Carol Thatcher, daughter of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, has worked as a journalist, broadcaster and author, and won ITV's I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here!

After a career in journalism in the 1950s, Baroness Shirley Williams became MP for Hitchin in 1964 and served as a member of both the Wilson and Callaghan governments in the 1960s and 1970s.

She supported the foundation of the Liberal Democrats in 1987 and stood down as their leader in the House of Lords in 2004 after three years.

Les Hoare, the theatre's marketing manager, said despite the fact that the shows had not yet been advertised, ticket sales were well ahead of expectations.

“Once we have confirmed a date for a performer it is amazing just how quickly the word spreads locally,” he said.

“Our Evening With performances always sell out and the intimate atmosphere in our theatre adds to these occasions.”

- The dates are: Carol Thatcher on March 3, Baroness Shirley Williams on April 7, Britt Ekland on June 3 and Honor Blackman on July 18. Call the box office on 01986 897130.
