IT'S been a rough few weeks for the Silver Ski Rockets, who have struggled for match points since edging King's Lynn at Hoddesdon on August 8.

Their latest fixture saw them produce a disappointing performance in falling to the resurgent Brummies for the second time within a fortnight.

Only Chris Neath and reserve Andrew Silver really emerged with credit for the Rockets in the 58-36 loss.

Neath bagged two of the side's three race wins, while Silver soldiered through five outings to top-score with paid 11.

The two also combined for a 5-1 over Jay Herne and Richard Sweetman in heat 14, but a 4-2 from Linus Sundstrom and Tommy Allen some two races earlier proved Rye's only other on-track heat advantage.

The Rockets also lost Joe Haines to action following a nasty fall in heat 5.

The Brummies, in contrast, delivered far too well-rounded a display to ever seriously be troubled, with six of their squad securing race wins and the team as a whole submitting to only three last places.

Jason Lyons and guest Mark Lemon (replacing the suspended Tomasz Piszcz) both produced five ride maximums, while recent signing Rusty Harrison was unbeaten in four outings.

After a disastrous start to the campaign in both the Premier Trophy and Knock-Out Cup, the Brummies are now firmly entrenched in second place in the League table, and may yet offer a late threat to King's Lynn's championship aspirations.
