A teenage boy is due to appear in court today charged with grievous bodily harm after an incident at Witham in which a man was seriously injured when a corrosive liquid was thrown at him.

The 15-year-old was arrested at Sutton, south London on Monday following an investigation into an assault at Bramble Road on Friday, August 8, when a man aged in his 50s received burns to his face and hands.

The boy has been charged with throwing a corrosive fluid with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The teenager, who is from Mitcham, south London, was detained in police custody to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court today.
