A teenager will spend at least 22 years behind bars after shooting a man dead outside a petrol station.

Bradley Blundell left John Pordage dying in the street after gunning him down outside the BP garage near the Army and Navy roundabout in Baddow Road, Chelmsford over what was described as a “trivial” matter.

Woolwich Crown Court heard that Bradley Blundell had been angered by flirtatious comments victim John Pordage or his friend allegedly made towards one of the teenager’s friends, Ella Colgate.

A confrontation flared up in which Blundell fired two shots at Mr Pordage, one of which hit him in the chest.

CCTV was later released by police showing Mr Pordage’s last moments before he was shot.

In December Woolwich Crown Court convicted 19-year-old Bradley Blundell of the murder on August 5 2017 and for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Blundell, then 17, fled the scene and then went on the run, sparking a large-scale manhunt.

Now 19, Blundell was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 22 years on Friday, January 25.

He eventually handed himself in to police in Amsterdam on March 31 and was detained under a European arrest warrant.

CCTV footage released later showed Blundell in the hours before the shooting, as well as Mr Pordage pulling up to the petrol station in his white van moments before getting into the confrontation.
