Would-be burglars damaged a door while trying to break in to a house in Braintree.
The incident took place between midnight on Saturday, April 5, and midnight on Tuesday, April 8, in Stour Court, Chelmer Road, Braintree.
Thieves caused £600 worth of damage to the door and its frame when they tried to jemmy it open.
Anyone with information should call Det Con Rebecca Kidby at Braintree police station on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
