DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a burglary in Braintree.

The break-in happened shortly before 3pm on Friday, July 13, when thieves forced their way into the rear of a house near to the junction of Hillside Gardens and Rifle Hill and stole cash and jewellery.

Investigating Officer, Pc Samantha Amsden, said: “This burglary happened in the middle of the afternoon and so in broad daylight, indicating that the thieves have no cares in the world about being seen. We are hoping that this is their downfall and those on the nearby school-run saw suspicious, unusual activity near to this junction.”

A forensic examination of the property was conducted as were house-to-house enquiries. The homeowners have not yet established how much jewellery and cash were taken during the burglary.

Anyone with information should contact Chelmsford police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
