Bramford Road in Ipswich was closed earlier this afternoon after a nine-year-old boy was hit by a car.

Police said they were called to the incident just prior to 2pm by the ambulance service.

A police spokesman said the boy had been hit by a black Vauxhall Astra, going over the bonnet and onto the roof.

He was taken inside Bretts Furniture Store, where the female driver of the car called an ambulance.

Police then closed the road between Wellington Street and Yarmouth Road, while investigations took place.

The spokesman added Breathalyser test results on the driver were negative.

The boy was taken to hopsital, but police said the injuries were not life threatening or life changing.

The road reopened at 3.07pm and inquiries are continuing.
