A 22-YEAR-old Suffolk woman is to appear in court next month after being charged in connection with an alleged attack, which left a man paralysed.

Egle Rymar, formerly of Bramford, but now of Abigail Court, Lowestoft, is accused of grievous bodily harm with intent after an incident involving at least 10 people.

Rymar was arrested after police were called to a flat in Rushbrook Mill, Paper Mill Lane, Bramford, in the early hours of March 27.

A 30-year-old man allegedly sustained stab wounds at the apartment block, which police have said resulted in him being paralysed from the waist down.

The man, who is from Norwich, received hospital treatment for spinal and head injuries.

Police have said Rymar was charged when she attended Suffolk Constabulary’s police investigation centre at its Martlesham headquarters to answer her bail.

Richard Jones, a spokesman for the force, said two 20-year-old men had also been charged in connection with the alleged incident, which is said to have taken place over a 90-minute period.

Gintautas Lipkinas, of St Matthew’s Street, Ipswich, faces an allegation of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Karolis Galinis, of Paper Mill Lane, Bramford, has also been charged with ABH.

Mr Jones said they are currently on police bail until the first hearing of their case, which is due to take place at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on September 7.

A 31-year-old man from Bramford remains on police bail.

The injured man was treated in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital following the disturbance, while at least four others were taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.

Eight other men were arrested on suspicion of violence and assault during the police inquiry into what happened.

Four of the suspects – aged 22, 24, 29, and 30 – were from Norwich.

The others were understood to be from the Bramford area, and were aged 18, 20, 23 and 31.

However, six have been released without charge and the other two were re-bailed.

All those arrested are believed to have been Lithuanian, or of Eastern European origin.

Police and paramedics were alerted to the incident just before 12.40am on March 27.

However, an alleged commotion is said to have taken place more than an hour-and-a-half earlier.

Rushbrook Mill, which has around 20 flats, was cordoned off throughout Sunday, March 28.

The flats and car park are next to the headquarters of NHS Suffolk.
