Cathleen and Mark Scarff ran a bumper coffee morning with multiple stalls and a raffle in aid of the appeal.
Fundraisers for Ipswich Hospital’s Blossom Appeal raised over £700 at a bumper coffee morning last week.
Cathleen Scarff and her son Mark collected an impressive £585 in just two hours, bringing the total raised to £730 including donations.
The appeal, which aims to raise £2.5m to build a new breast cancer care centre at Ipswich Hospital, is especially important to the pair, as Cathleen has just triumphed over the disease for the second time.
Mr Scarff said the whole family had struggled since Mrs Scarff’s first diagnosis over a decade ago.
“It affects others as well - husbands, brothers and children,” he said.
The event, which boasted several stalls and a raffle with a top prize of two Ipswich Town tickets, took place between 10am and 12pm on January 26 at Bucklesham and Foxhall Village Hall.
Mr Scarff added: “It went very well. Some of the people who visited asked when we were going to do it again!”.
