Greater Anglia passengers are facing delays on the main line between Norwich and London Liverpool Street this morning because of a broken down train.

The 6am Norwich to London Liverpool Street service has come to a stand just before Ingatestone with an unknown brake fault.

Bosses say the driver, on-board conductor and the fleet engineer have been unable to fix the fault – and the train cannot be moved under its own power.

A rescue train from Chelmsford has been dispatched to help it move towards a station and allow customers to get off.

Other trains on the line are being diverted around the train but services are being cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes as a result.

Disruption is expected until at least 10am.

Both Greater Anglia and Network Rail have apologised to commuters for the delays.
