A SUFFOLK chef and restaurateur’s cookbook has been named the best in the world at a glittering gastronomic awards ceremony in Paris.

Madeline Bonvini-Hamel, who runs the British Larder with Ross Pike in Bromeswell, near Woodbridge, was given the Gourmand award for the world’s best cookbook by a female chef.

The book, with the same name as the multi-award-winning restaurant, had already scooped the UK section of the awards less than a month after its publication. Madeline and Ross, who are not yet back in the country, posted on their Twitter page on Saturday evening: “Still cannot believe it best female cookbook for the world thank you everyone for your kind words see you soon.”

The prize is the latest in a growing collection of honours associated with the restaurant for culinary excellence. It was named Best Food Pub in the Great British Pub Awards 2012 and highest climber at the Top 50 Gastro Pub awards 2013.
