A BUNGALOW was badly damaged when a fire broke out early today.

The fire in the property in Wolsey Avenue, Jaywick was reported at 12.50am.

Two fire crews from Clacton were sent to the scene and when they arrived they found half of the building was already well alight and the entire property was filled with smoke.

They extinguished the blaze just before 1.30am but remained at the scene until just after 1.50am, damping down and ensuring the fire did not flare up again.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the blaze.
