DETECTIVES are hunting balaclava-clad raiders who ordered a fast food restaurant worker to hand over cash from a safe.
The robbers struck at around 4.45am this morning at Burger King in Oaks Drive in Newmarket.
A police spokesman said two offenders wearing balaclavas broke into the restaurant and attempted to force open the safe: “When a member of staff arrived shortly afterwards he was threatened by the offenders and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe.”
He said the raiders fled on foot towards Newmarket's Studlands Park. The member of staff was unhurt in the raid.
The spokesman urged anyone with information to come forward: “Detectives want to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious people or vehicles in the area in the early hours of this morning. Anyone with any information about this robbery should contact DS Carl Dye on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
It was not clear whether any weapons were used by the robbers.
