POLICE are hunting for a burglar who forced his way into a 79-year-old woman's home and pushed her before stealing money from her handbag.
The crook struck in The Causeway, Colchester, at about 9pm last night when he knocked at the woman's home and asked for directions.
He then pushed past her, knocking her backwards, and went into the lounge where he took cash from the pensioner's handbag.
The burglar is described as white, of medium build, about 6ft tall and wearing dark clothing with a green scarf pulled across the lower part of his face and a dark hood pulled over his head. He spoke with a local accent.
Det Con Lee Pollard said: “This was a particularly nasty individual who used force and threats against an elderly woman in her own home.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have information about this person or incident.”
Anyone with information should call Dc Pollard at Colchester CID on 0300 333 4444.
