POLICE have launched a murder inquiry after a “badly burned” woman's body was found by the side of a road in Cambridgeshire.

POLICE have launched a murder inquiry after a “badly burned” woman's body was found by the side of a road in Cambridgeshire.

The A1301 has been closed both ways between the A505 junction and the M11 junction in Hinxton, near Duxford, following the discovery by a lorry driver in a lay-by at 3.30am today.

The body, which was found about half a mile from the A11, has not been identified yet.

The area has been cordoned off and scenes of crime officers are conducting enquiries.

Detective Superintendent Mark Birch, who is leading the investigation, said the death is being treated as suspicious and officers do not yet know how the woman died.
