A BURST pipe resulted in flooding at a hotel last nightand left 18 properties without water.
A water main burst in Walnut Tree Lane, Sudbury, shortly before 8.30pm.
It resulted in the surface of the road lifting up with cars unable to pass.
Suffolk police said water was running into The Mill Hotel.
A spokesperson for Anglian Water said 18 properties were without water and said it was the location of the burst main which was the problem. βIt is on a hill so the water is cascading down the road so there is a lot of water,β the spokesperson said.
Engineers from Anglian Water were on site last night and it is expected that the burst main will be fixed by this morning.
Suffolk police last nightadvised motorists to stay away from the road but said it should not cause too many traffic problems in the town.
The Mill Hotel declined to comment.
