A six-week long arts and culture festival has relaunched in Bury St Edmunds with the aim of showcasing creative talent in the area.

The Bury St Edmunds Fringe Festival, which is run by a committee of independent local promoters on a voluntary basis, will take place as a fully-fledged event in March and April following a five-year semi-hiatus of only a handful of music events.

The festival will feature theatre, comedy, poetry, film, dance, workshops, networking events and a huge variety of music – catering for all tastes.

Organisers say ticket prices have been kept as low as possible or free and the popular Bury Songwriters Competition will also return.

Seymour Quigley, musical director at the festival, said: “We are hugely excited to showcase how incredibly creative our local area is, and we hope that Bury Fringe will grow and grow as more people get inspired and get involved in the years to come.”
