Bury pubs brew up a festive treat for charity with hospice ale

Ale-lovers who like to sup a seasonal brew and support a local charity can do just that in three Bury St Edmunds pubs over the festive period.

A specially-brewed Christmas ale has been created by Bury craft brewers Brewshed to raise funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The St Nic’s dark ale is described as a “tasty Christmas pudding porter”. More than 1,400 pints have been brewed, with 20p from every pint going to charity. It will be on sale at The One Bull on Angel Hill, The Beerhouse in Tayfen Road, and at The Crown in Hartest, from November 26.

David Marjoram, owner of Brewshed and the pubs, said: “We’re delighted to have brewed this festive ale in support of such a well-deserving charity.”

Jordan Hughes, hospice fundraiser, said: “I will be taking my dad and brother out for a taste of St Nic’s at Christmas and I encourage others to do the same.”
