The manager of a Bury St Edmunds care home says she is “over the moon” after being rated ‘outstanding’ following an inspection.

Risby Park Nursing Home, in Hall Lane, received the grade from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for its “exceptional” quality of care and leadership.

Inspectors found staff at the home, which is run by The Partnership In Care, were caring and compassionate and provided safe, responsive and well-led care.

Following the inspection in July, the home was found to be ‘outstanding’ for being caring, well-led and responsive and ‘good’ for being effective and safe to achieve the overall ‘outstanding’ rating.

Moira Clare, manager, said: “We’re absolutely over the moon. We had hoped for an ‘outstanding’, but we know how difficult it is to get one.

“We were just so thrilled when we found out, staff, residents and their family members were all hugging because we are like one big family here.

“Everyone gets involved and to get three out of the five areas as ‘outstanding’ is just fantastic.

“I’d like to thank the wonderful team of staff, residents and their families that make us an outstanding home.”

Rob Assall-Marsden, CQC’s head of inspection for adult social care in the central region, said: “This nursing home was exceptionally well-led.

“The registered manager was a highly skilled leader who had clear oversight of the home and a passion for delivering the very best care to people.

“Staff knew the needs and preferences of the people they cared for and people were given reassurance and encouragement when they needed it. People were at the forefront of their care and staff went the extra mile to ensure people had their care needs met in the way they wanted them.

“They were remarkably enthusiastic and passionate about delivering high quality care.

“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated ‘outstanding’.”

Andrea Sutcliffe, chief inspector of adult social care, said: “The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional, and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements.

“An outstanding service is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”
