FIREFIGHTERS had to remove plasterboard and an extractor fan to ensure that a kitchen blaze had not spread any further.
Crews were called to a house in Gosnold Street, Bury St Edmunds, at 10pm yesterday after a kitchen fire was reported.
On arrival, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet, fought the flames.
By 11pm, the flames had been put out but the ensure that the blaze hadn’t spread to an inaccessible loft area, crews were forced to remove a section of plasterboard.
The incident was brought under control by 12.06am.
