THE brutal story of Christ’s crucifixion was brought to life through the streets of a west Suffolk town as Christians gathered to celebrate Good Friday.
About 2,000 people in Bury St Edmunds flocked to watch the Passion play, a re-enactment of the Easter story performed by members of churches throughout the town yesterday.
The Rev Jonathan Ford helped stage the event, which ended with a re-enactment of the crucifixion in the Abbey Gardens.
“Passion plays are part of the history of the town,” he said. “I hope it brings people’s daily worship to life and, for those who don’t have faith, I hope it gets them thinking.”
