A DOCTOR from west Suffolk has appeared in court charged with 12 counts of sexual assault, including seven alleged incidents relating to a 12-year-old girl.
Dr Imran Khan, of Osprey Close, Bury St Edmunds, appeared in Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court this morning accused of sexual offences which were allegedly committed in Woolpit and Brandon.
The 39-year-old is charged with seven counts of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, three counts of sexually assaulting a woman aged 16 or over by penetration and two counts of sexually touching a woman aged 16 or over without penetration.
Khan, who wore a dark coloured suit in court, appeared only to confirm his name and date of birth.
A date was set for a plea and case management hearing at Ipswich Crown Court. This is due to take place on April 19.
Khan has been released on bail with the conditions that he does not contact certain persons and complies with restrictions imposed by NHS Suffolk and the General Medical Council.
